How to measure a parcel: weight, longest side and sum of sides

With a tape measure and scales you can check in a minute whether your parcel is within the limits: up to 30 kg, no side over 120 cm and 220 cm adding up its three sides.

Guides ·

At RufioExpress the price depends only on the route: weight and size don’t change it. They do decide whether the parcel is accepted: up to 30 kg, no side over 120 cm and up to 220 cm adding up the three sides.

Rufio with his three measurements: 50 cm long, 30 deep and 40 high. The sum is 120 cm, under 220 cm; next to him the scales, up to 30 kg
50 + 30 + 40 = 120 cm, and no side is over 120 cm: the parcel is fine.

1. Measure the three sides

Measure the closed parcel at its widest point and round up to the next centimetre. If the box bulges, measure the bulge.

2. Check the longest side and the sum

No side can be longer than 120 cm.

Length + width + height: the total must not exceed 220 cm.

Both rules apply together: 120 × 60 × 40 cm makes 220 cm and is fine; 130 × 40 × 30 cm makes only 200 cm, but it is not fine because one side is over 120 cm.

3. Weigh the parcel

Weigh the closed parcel: 30 kg at most. Bathroom scales are fine: weigh yourself holding the parcel and subtract your own weight.

4. Enter the measurements

In the booking, enter the weight and size of each parcel: the longest side and the sum of sides appear by themselves and warn you if you go over a limit. The price per parcel for your route is on the Prices page.
