Christmas gifts to Europe: when to send so they arrive on time

When to send Christmas gifts within Europe: delivery times, the peak weeks before the holidays, how to pack presents and track them until they arrive.

Guides ·

In December couriers handle more parcels than at any other time of year, and the holidays stop deliveries for a few days. To get your gifts there on time, it’s worth acting early.

1. Work out the timing

Each route has its own estimated delivery time, in working days from collection: you’ll find it in the prices. These are estimates, not guarantees, and in December they can get longer. Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays don’t count, and there are quite a few before the holidays.

2. Leave a margin

Book with at least one or two weeks to spare on top of the estimated days for your route. In the last weeks before Christmas sorting centres are full and a delay of a few days is normal.

3. Pack gifts twice

Wrapping paper offers no protection: put wrapped presents inside a sturdy box with filling around them (how to pack). Don’t write on the outside of the box that it contains gifts.

4. Consider insurance

For valuable gifts, add insurance and keep the receipts (how it works).

5. Track the parcel

With the order code you can follow every update on its journey until delivery (track your parcel). The price stays fixed in December too: book now.
