Relocating, Erasmus, a long holiday: it often makes sense to send your suitcase rather than take it on the plane. With RufioExpress the courier collects it from the sender’s home and delivers it to the recipient’s address, at a fixed price for the route.
1. Check weight and size
A suitcase is a parcel like any other: up to 30 kg, no side over 120 cm and length, width and height adding up to no more than 220 cm. Measure it including wheels and handles, because they count too (how to measure). Weight does not change the price, but a parcel over the limits incurs a penalty equal to the price of that parcel.
2. Protect it
Suitcases travel on sorting-centre conveyor belts alongside boxes. If you can, put it in a cardboard box; otherwise wrap it in film or a strong bag, close the zips securely and retract the telescopic handle. Remove old flight tags: they confuse barcode scanners.
3. Watch what you pack
Don’t pack loose lithium batteries (power banks included), aerosols, perfumes and flammable liquids, perishable food, cash or prohibited items (the full list). Documents and valuables are best kept with you.
4. Label and photo
After payment, upload a photo of the closed suitcase from the order page: without a photo the shipment won’t go ahead. When the courier’s label arrives, put it in a clear pouch fixed to a flat side, not on the handle.
5. Insure it if it’s worth it
For clothes and valuable items you can add insurance (how it works). Keep receipts and invoices: if there is damage, they prove the value. Then book your shipment.
